The ACDP pledged to provide a more reliable and affordable energy supply to the population, in an effort to tackle energy issues such as load shedding, in its manifesto.
The African Christian Democratic Party (ACDP) pledged to provide a reliable and affordable energy supply to the population as part of its election manifesto on Wednesday, October 20, 2021. The ACDP noted that the power company, the Eskom’s unreliable electricity supply resulted in widespread load-loss.
The party highlighted how this has had a devastating impact on the country’s economic growth and job creation. To address this issue, he promised he would change the regulatory environment to allow independent developers to build power plants of up to 100 megawatts.
It will also aim to enable municipalities in good financial health to generate purchase electricity from independent power producers. In addition, it will encourage mines, farms, factories and other commercial enterprises to invest in their own power plants, as this will contribute to local economic development and job creation.
