All states on board for the electricity distribution reform program


All states have agreed to join the state’s electricity distribution reform program of Rs 3.03 lakh crore and most are expected to submit their consent by October 31, the minister of state said on Thursday. ‘Energy and Renewable Energy, RK Singh.

Singh held a regional meeting with ministers of state power on September 21 and Thursday.

“All states are confident they will cut their losses and take advantage of the program money. Most states have said they will submit their consent by Oct. 31,” he told reporters at the meeting. ‘a press briefing.

Singh said central government teams would contact states to hold hands in preparing their proposals.

Singh urged states to conduct system studies on demand assessment and system strengthening

before submitting their proposals.

Funding under the revamped distribution program will be released based on progress made in operational and financial improvements to distribution services.

The revamped, reform-based, results-linked distribution sector program was launched with an expenditure of Rs 3,03,758 crore and an estimated SGB of Rs 97,631 crore from the Center.

Grid strengthening and modernization, financial sustainability and smart prepaid meters are key aspects of this program.
