Azerbaijan holds new online meeting on energy supply for its liberated lands

The working group on energy supply of the Interdepartmental Center under the coordination headquarters, established with the aim of a centralized solution of the problems in the Azerbaijani territories freed from Armenian occupation [in the 2020 second Karabakh war], held a new meeting, Tendency reported on September 14.

Meeting participants discussed steps taken to rebuild and restore energy infrastructure in liberated territories during the week.

In addition, during the meeting, the measures for the implementation of the decisions taken at the previous meetings of the Working Group and the results obtained were also discussed.

Representatives of relevant government agencies provided information on the above issues.

The challenges of creating an electrical infrastructure and designing a gas transport system in certain territories were also discussed.

Information was given on the results of monitoring in connection with the work carried out to supply electricity and heat to strategic facilities in Shusha city.

Participants were briefed on power plants, power lines and boiler houses that are under construction in the city.

The current situation, as well as the new steps to continue the construction of the hydropower plants of Khudaferin and Giz Galasi [Jabrayil district] on the Araz River, and power stations were discussed.

At the meeting, discussions were held on participation in the Rebuild Karabakh – “Renaissance, Restoration and Development of Karabakh” exhibition, which will be held in Baku in October this year, information was given on the importance a stand on the creation of a “green” energy zone in Karabakh, which will be installed to attract foreign investors.

Proposals were presented, prepared by the Working Group, created by the order of the Minister responsible for the economy, to resolve the organizational problems linked to participation in the show and to the design of the stand.

In parallel to the above, reports were made on the general plan of the liberated territories, an exchange of views took place on other topical issues and it was recommended to systematically discuss the measures to be implemented with the appropriate structures.

The coordination headquarters, created by order of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev on November 24, 2020, is headed by the head of the presidential administration Samir Nureyev.
