ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – November 20, 2021): Federal Energy Minister Hammad Azhar said on Saturday that domestic demand for gas was increasing day by day for which the government was introducing a gas distribution procedure .
Speaking to a private news channel, he said gas consumption increased by 3% each winter season and the government was doing everything possible to meet domestic demand for gas. There was no link between liquefied natural gas (LNG) and the shortage of Sui gas, he said.
The minister said supplying gas to domestic consumers during the winter season was the first priority, while industry was the second.
He said sadly 70 percent of the population was deprived of gas facilities while only 28 percent used them to date.
The minister said the government would receive two additional shipments of liquefied natural gas (LNG) next month to meet the country’s gas needs. He said LNG was only supplied to power plants and factories because it was expensive compared to other sources.
He said the current government would introduce a virtual LNG gas pipeline system in the country, which would be helpful in overcoming the energy shortage.
Hammad Azhar said that over the past three years, a continuous propaganda campaign has been launched regarding LNG against the government of the day.
Past regimes had needlessly installed expensive power plants in the country, which was the main cause of the increase in electricity prices, he claimed.
The minister said today that the entire nation bears the brunt of the bad decisions of previous governments, adding that the Pakistani government of Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has not put in place any costly projects or signed an agreement with it. no business.
He said the Pakistani Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) was responsible for expensive electricity in the country because it had high-priced deals with electricity distribution companies during his last term. .
